CHD is a private not-for-profit organization located in
La Grande, Oregon providing alcohol and drug,
environmental health, mental health, public health,
developmental disabilities, prevention and veterans
services to the more then 25,000 residents of Union
County in Eastern Oregon.

What is the Center for
Human Development?
The Center for Human Development
(CHD) provides Union County residents with various
services to improve their health and well-being. CHD
consists of about 100 employees, including nurses,
doctors, social workers, counselors, and other health
and rehabilitation specialists.

an appointment?
Most services require an appointment; call
541-962-8800. However, crisis intervention is available
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For emergency or crisis,
call 541-962-8800 during weekdays or 541-963-8421
after-hours. The Public Health clinic also has
scheduled walk-in hours. Call 541-962-8801 for the
current schedule.

CHD staff is partners with their clients. They share their
