CHD is
a private not-for-profit organization located in La
Grande, Oregon providing alcohol and drug, environmental
health, mental health, public health, developmental
disabilities, prevention and veterans services to the
more then 25,000 residents of Union County in Eastern
Oregon.

What is the Center for
Human Development?
The Center for Human Development (CHD) provides Union
County residents with various services to improve their
health and well-being. CHD consists of about 100
employees, including nurses, doctors, social workers,
counselors, and other health and rehabilitation
specialists.

What does
it cost?
In order to receive government funding,
CHD is required by state and county policies to charge
for services it provides to the public. However, no one
will be denied clinical services because of an inability
to pay. Discounts are available based on family
size and income. For more information, please ask

Do I need
an appointment?
Most services require an appointment; call
541-962-8800. However, crisis intervention is available
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For emergency or crisis,
call 541-962-8800.

CHD
staff is partners with their clients. They share their
professional skills and offer their clients support and
assistance. The staff support and cooperate with
natural helping networks, other agencies, and private
professionals to work toward the best interests of their
clients.

CHD is
located in La Grande, Oregon in northeast Oregon. La
Grande is the largest city in Union County and also
serves as the county seat. La Grande is approximately
168 miles west of Boise, Idaho and 259 miles east of
Portland, Oregon.
