History
Center for Human Development, Inc. has almost a decade
of experience in sponsoring a formal student program.
In 1990, when we embarked on this program, we had a
rural recruitment problem. Thee was a shortage of
health care professionals, particularly in the mental
health field. Studies showed that people tended to stay
in communities that they had been trained. In response
to this shortage CHD implemented the practicum program
in hopes of meeting our needs by recruiting graduate and
undergraduate students.
Today
The needs of the agency are changing. In addition to
needing health care providers, we find a shortage of
technological and business expertise as our borders or
service expand.
Placements
Since 1990, CHD has placed over 400 students,
approximately 40 students per year.
Examples
Students are matched with their area of interest as
closely as possible while at the same time matched with
a team who's needs relate to the students area of
interest. Students in the past have participated in
program development, group facilitating, research,
market analysis, one-on-one with clients, home visits,
public health and data analysis.
