Union County Immunization Coalition

What is the Union County Immunization Coalition
We are a promotion awareness group made up of government leaders, businesses, and education and health care providers. Our goal is to promote awareness of immunizations in Union County. If you’re interested in more information please contact us at 541-962-8801 or e-mail vaccineinfo@chdinc.org.

Meetings
Next Meeting will be Thursday November 5, 2009 at 12:00 PM in the La Grande Public Library Community Room.  We will be focusing on H1N1 vaccination efforts.

The Value of Immunizations
Immunizations have eliminated many of the most devastating diseases of childhood and adolescence.  In countries where vaccines are given routinely, such as the United States, these potentially deadly diseases had been virtually eliminated.   However, there are diseases we thought were gone, that are coming back, as some children remain under-immunized.

When parents stop getting their children immunized outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases, such as measles and whooping cough occur. The recent resurgence of whooping cough is an example of what happens when vaccination rates go down.

Immunizations Schedules and Recommendations
