Remote Access Gateway

Disclaimer:
The remote access gateway system is the property of the Center for Human Development, Inc. in La Grande, Oregon and may ONLY be accessed by authorized users.  Unauthorized access into this system is strictly prohibited and may be subject to criminal prosecution.  All access is monitored.

Remote Access:
This service allows CHD staff to connect remotely to your Windows based Terminal Server from any offsite computer (home, hotel, etc...) while away from work.

Logon Instructions:

  1. Open in Internet Explorer - https://remote.chdinc.org
  2. Type credentials (email address for username)
  3. Click Sign in button
  4. Click Remote Desktop link
  5. Type name of computer you are trying to connect to
  6. Click Connect button
  7. When Remote Desktop Connection box appears click Connect
  8. When Windows Security box appears type in credentials (use email address for username) and click OK
  9. Click to accept the terms of policy warning
  10. Click Yes if prompted for the identity warning.

  • Windows 2000, XP, Vista or 7 Computer
  • Remote Desktop Client 6.1 or higher
  • High Speed Internet Connection (cable, dsl, mobile broadband / wireless)
  • Internet Explorer browser

>>Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Q: Is my Mac or Linux computer supported?
A: The gateway is not supported on Macintosh and Linux operating systems.  As an alternative you can still use the CHD VPN, contact Tech Services at 541-962-8872 for more information.

Q: Are any other browsers besides Internet Explorer supported?
A: If you use a browser other than Internet Explorer such as Firefox, Chrome, or Safari the remote access gateway will not work.  If your Windows computer doesn't have an up to date version of Internet Explorer you can download it through Windows Update.  An alterative to using Internet Explorer is to use the manual RDP file (download here).  Right-click and save as.  Call Tech Services for more information.

Q: What does it mean when it says Domain\user name?
A: This refers to the format of CHDINC\user name.  As an alternative you can also use username@chdinc.org.

Q: Is there a timeout for inactivity?
A: Yes, if you are inactive for 15 minutes you session will be disconnected automatically.

Q: When I try to access the remote access gateway I get an error stating I need to enable the ActiveX control?
A: Within Internet Explorer you need to enable the Terminal Services Client ActiveX Control.
