Youth Activity and Treatment Groups

The CHD Child and Family Outpatient Team at CHD is offering resilience building activities for children of all ages. 

This summer CHD will be offering activity groups designed to address a variety of interests and skills.  

Many activity groups are open to anyone in the community.
Youth do not need to be enrolled in any CHD services in order to attend these groups. They are geared toward all! More information about groups open to anyone in the community is here >

Additional groups are available for enrolled CHD clients. Please speak with your Child’s counselor for a quick referral.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Activity Groups?
CHD operates a number of prevention, education and outreach activities for children and youth in Union County.  Many of these groups are open to any young person that desires to connect with other youth, increase their self-efficacy, and build skills such as communication and resilience. Young people can increase their mental health and wellbeing by participating in these activities. 

Who Operates These Activity Groups?
CHD Employees such as Qualified Mental Health Professionals, Qualified Mental Health Associates, Case Managers and Certified Peer Mentors coordinate various groups.  CHD partners with the Timber Ridge Apartments, Cook Memorial Library and other agencies for certain activities.

Is There a Cost to Attend?
No. There is no cost to attend these group activities.

When Do The Groups Operate?
Most groups only meet once each week, during the summer. See the schedule for more information.

My Child is Not seeing a Counselor at CHD: Can They Attend One of These Groups?
Yes!  Many groups are open to any child or youth in the community, including non-CHD clients. 

My Child Requires Accommodation for Some Activities, Can They Attend One of These Groups?
We value inclusion and will make our best efforts to meet individual needs for youth with disabilities.  Please contact CHD Children’s Team to discuss beforehand. 

Some of The Groups Have Already Started. Can My Child Still Join?
Yes, most of the summer groups can be joined at any time, please call the children’s team for more information.
