The Outreach Center (OC) is a place for individuals seeking support in their recovery journey. The Outreach Center offers a range of peer-delivered services to assist people with behavioral health needs and substance use recovery, all in a warm, welcoming environment.

Outreach Center Location: 2108 Island Avenue, La Grande, OR 97850

Hours of Operation: 12:00pm to 4:00pm Monday-Friday

Services Include:

Peer Support Activities and Mentorship: Certified Recovery Mentors (CRM) are people with lived experience that are skilled in assisting people to start or maintain their recovery from substance use disorders. Recover Mentors are available at the OC, providing individual support and group recovery activities.  Recovery Mentors also conduct direct outreach throughout Union County, such as visiting housing camps, hospitals, or meeting individuals after law enforcement or medical service referrals.

Harm Reduction Services: Include naloxone (Narcan) distribution, Safe sex supplies (condoms, birth control information), hygiene kits, HIV and Hepatitis C testing, and other essential resources to reduce the individual and community risks that are associated with substance use.

Screenings and Service Referrals: Certified Recovery Mentors Provide access to resources like computers for job search and applications, referrals for housing, food and other essential needs. This approach reflects the center’s commitment to reducing barriers to treatment,

Public Health Collaboration: CHD Public Health and other partners provide HIV and Hepatitis C testing, immunizations and Flu shots at the OC.

BHRN Behavioral Health Assessments: Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC) provide comprehensive behavioral health assessments, including screenings to determine the level of care needed. These can be scheduled within 24 hours of a request.

Employment support: The Outreach Center provides supported employment services, which include helping participants navigate challenges in obtaining and retaining jobs. Our supported employment specialist is also a trained Certified Recovery Mentor and CADC, offering tailored assistance based on individual needs.

The comprehensive support provided—whether through one-on-one counseling, group activities, or harm reduction initiatives—helps individuals navigate recovery while being met with compassion and guidance from people who have “been there” themselves.
